Paul's story, and the why behind CanvasPM.

Paul Stefanski, founder of CanvasPM

I'm Paul Stefanski, and CanvasPM exists because I got tired of watching capable project managers get reduced to schedule police — tracking tasks, filing status reports, enforcing timelines — when they were capable of so much more.

The Credibility Case

Twenty-one years doing project work, all of it in IT. I've been in IT since 2001, managing teams and projects inside an IT department — primarily system and software implementations. I added GenAI to that work in 2023. I'm a PMP, certified in 2021 — later than most people who eventually get one; I waited a long time to sit for the exam.

What I can tell you plainly: I built CanvasPM's frameworks — Mirror / Telescope / Hammer, the 10 Principles of Intentional Intelligence — myself, because most AI training treats project managers like anyone else in "business." PM work has its own specific shape: outcomes, stakeholders, assumptions, a team that needs a vision to work toward.

The Philosophy

"Canvas" is a blank slate — the same feeling as staring at a blinking cursor in an AI text box. That feeling holds a real question, the one underneath everything I teach: what do you actually want, and why does it matter? Answer that first, and the AI polish has something worth applying to.

That's why Intentional Intelligence exists as a worldview. AI amplifies whoever you already are. Amplify a bureaucrat, and you get a faster bureaucrat. Amplify a leader, and you get a sharper one. My job is helping you become the second kind, with AI as the accelerant.
