Intentional Intelligence
The worldview: intention beats tooling.
The Core Idea
Everyone has access to the same AI. Most people get mediocre results — generic answers to vague questions. A few get transformational ones: strategic clarity, real leverage, a genuine thinking partner. The intention behind the tool makes the difference.
Without intention, AI is a search engine with better manners — a vending machine that dispenses plausible-sounding answers to whatever you typed first. With intention, it becomes something else: a partner that sharpens your thinking. That's Intentional Intelligence — a discipline, practiced on purpose.
How It Works
Most people treat AI like a vending machine: put in a vague request, take out an answer, move on without checking it. That's Hammer-only thinking — execution with nothing underneath it — and it's why so much AI output feels hollow. It answered the question you asked, when what you needed was the question you meant to ask.
A thinking partner works differently. You bring it your actual thinking — what you're assuming, what you're not seeing — and it helps you sharpen that before you build anything. The blank cursor asks a real question first: what do you actually want, and why does it matter? Answer that, and the AI polish has something worth applying to.
In Practice
This is the worldview underneath every session I run. Before we talk about prompts or tools, we talk about what you're trying to achieve and why — because that's the work AI can't do for you, and it's the work that determines whether everything after it is any good.
